Suspected shoplifter pulls knife on Walmart employee

SHAMOKIN — Police are investigating an assault at the Coal Township Walmart last night.  According to the News Item, police from CoalTownship and Shamokin were called to the store around 8:00p.m. for a reported assault.

Police say a loss prevention associate suspected a shopper of retail theft.  When he tried to confront them, the suspect allegedly pulled a knife on the associate.  The suspect then fled the store.

The associate is said to have suffered an injury to his jaw.  Police remained in the store for one hour reviewing surveillance footage.  The investigation continues.  (Codi Jade)
