Susquehanna Council of Boy Scouts responds to lack of funding
SUNBURY — Following the decision of the Greater Susquehanna Valley United Way to hold funds for local boy scouts, Scout Executive of the Susquehanna Council of Boy Scouts Jon Brennan has issued a statement.
“The Susquehanna Council Boy Scouts of America is disappointed by the recent action taken by the United Way. However, with the continued support of community organizations and the residents of the SusquehannaValley, we will be able to continue to deliver the character development, citizenship, and fitness programs in scouting to prepare young men and women for life so they can develop into future leaders.”
In February, the Greater Susquehanna Valley United Way put over $11,000 of discretionary funding on hold for the local boy scouts due to the Boy Scouts of America’s policy on allowing homosexual scouts and adult leaders. (Sara Bartlett)
