Susquehanna Valley Young Survivors comes to Lewisburg
SUNBURY– A Central Pennsylvania group committed to helping cancer patients is meeting in Lewisburg this week. The Susquehanna Valley Young Survivors is an organization that reaches out to comfort those that are battling or have survived cancer.
Shelly Walter, a nurse navigator at Geisinger spoke about how this organization came together saying, “We pulled together a group consisting of American Cancer Society, Leukemia, Lymphoma Society, and the cancer department at Geisinger, EvangelicalCommunityHospital and also Cancer Care of Central Pennsylvania.”
The Susquehanna Valley Young Survivors meet every second Friday of the month at various restaurants in the SusquehannaValley. Dara Scheidler of SVYS spoke about their monthly meetings.
Scheidler said, “It’s just a good time, I mean we go through some much with treatment, with dealing with the financial stuff and really just cancer is tough, and so it is a way to just relax.”
