Swim meet to remember a teen killed in a crash
SELINSGROVE – The annual Alex Moser Memorial Swim Meet is this Sunday at Susquehanna University. Moser was a 17-year-old Milton student when he killed in a crash four years ago in Union County. Now a swim meet has been held in his honor each year since. Jerry Foley is swim coach for the YMCA and says Moser was a member of the swim team and he coached him for four years.
Foley said, “He was a kid full of life and very energetic. He was a tremendous athlete who loved to race. He loved the sport of swimming. He was a good kid.”
The meet will be Sunday and will feature about 250 swimmers. Foley said, “The theme of the meet is ‘Go Big or Go Home’. Also, everyone who comes to the meet is asked to wear pink for a ‘pink out’ since that was Alex’s favorite color.”
The money raised at the meet goes to two entities. Foley says half the proceeds support the Sunbury YMCA swim team to help with the operating budget and the other half goes to the endowment that supports a scholarship for graduating seniors from the Sunbury YMCA swim team in Alex Moser’s name.
