Tax increase for Shikellamy School District

SUNBURY – The Shikellamy School board has approved a proposed budget for the next school year that includes an expected 2.25-mill tax increase.  The budget approved last night had a higher real estate tax increase, but board members say they will get it down to 2.25-mills by the time approval is required in July.

There will be three more budget negotiating sessions before the final budget is adopted.  Also, the teachers’ contract will expire in June and no negotiations have been planned.
