Toy drive continues in Northumberland

NORTHUMBERLAND — The annual Martin Concini toy drive is underway to collect toys for families in need in Northumberland, Point Township, Sunbury and other communities. The Northumberland Police Department asks that unwrapped toys be dropped off at the Northumberland Police Station, the Northumberland borough office, Priestley/Forsyth Memorial Library in Northumberland, Northumberland National Bank on Front Street in Northumberland and Surplus Outlet on Route 11 in Point Township.

The toy drive started in 1990 when the late Chief Martin Concini Jr. saw a need to help families during the holiday season. The toy drive ended when Concini died in 1992, but the police department picked the program back up again in 1998. Since then, the program has grown substantially and the police department says they are honored to help these families who need assistance with gifts for their children. (Ali Stevens)
