Tree Fest of Children’s Books in Selinsgrove

SELINSGROVE — Nothing is more colorful and fun than a children’s book, so it only makes sense that trees and wreaths decorated to that theme would be a beautiful sight.  The Friends of Selinsgrove Library is having the 9th Annual Tree Fest of Children’s Books at its new location, The Rudy Gelnett Memorial Library.

Emily Johnson, Chair of Tree Fest, said, “It’s pretty exciting for the children. Some of them have helped to decorate and all of them are given the opportunity to see the trees.  Sometimes someone will even read the book to them that is with the tree.”

The opening reception will be held on Friday from 7:00p.m. to 9:00p.m.  Trees and wreaths will be on display from November 30 to December 14 during normal library hours.

“One purpose of tree fest is interesting the children in books to read.  Also, the joy of seeing the unique trees.  Another purpose is to raise a little money for the Friends to give the library for reading programs.”

It is free for all to stop by and see the unique trees and wreaths, but there are opportunities to donate to the cause.  You may buy a ticket to vote for your favorites, ornaments will be auctioned off and there will also be miniature versions of the decorated trees for sale. (Codi Jade)
