Tree lighting in New York features a local tree
NEW YORK — The 85-foot-tall Norway Spruce from the Danville area will soon be lit with 45,000 LED lights in Rockefeller Center. Tens of thousands of people are expected to watch the annual tree lighting ceremony, which will feature musical entertainment from Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett, Mariah Carey, Cyndi Lauper and others.
The lighting ceremony will be broadcast live on NBC starting at 8 p.m. tonight. Dan Sigafoos and Rachel Drosdick-Sigafoos are the owners of the tree, which came from their property in Hemlock Township, Columbia County, outside of Danville. They will be attending tonight’s tree lighting ceremony. (Ali Stevens/ AP)
