Trials can begin again in Snyder County
MIDDLEBURG – Now that 2014 is here, Snyder County can once again hold criminal and civil trials, which had to be postponed in late October due to lack of funding in the budget. The first criminal trial has been scheduled in Snyder County for February 3rd. President Judge Mike Sholley postponed all criminal and civil trials in October until 2014 arrived after the courts exceeded their annual budget by about $30,000.
The first criminal trial will be the retrial of Seth Hornberger, whose conviction in 2012 was overturned following an appeal. Hornberger is accused of stabbing and killing 21-year-old Alan Martin of Winfield after an argument at a Selinsgrove apartment in March of 2011.
Another Snyder County trial scheduled in 2014 is for Joshua and Jennifer Snook of Sunbury, who are accused of stabbing to death Bonnie Snook in February of 2013. The courts have an additional $36,000 in the 2014 budget for the trials. (Ali Stevens)
