Turf decision lays ahead for Shik board
SUNBURY — The Shikellamy School Board is discussing the possibility of replacing Shikellamy High School’s football field with a turf field. Several high schools locally, who place athletics as a high priority. The issue was raised after complaints about the field’s grass quality. Consultants from Penn State are expected to assess the field in the next few weeks to determine the best course of action.
The issue was raised at the Shikellamy School Board’s meeting about cost of the field. The board noted that any cost would not fit into this year’s budget and a full assessment would need to be done considering both the cost of installing the field and its maintenance over time. (Jillian Lewis)
