Two candidates running for treasurer in Sunbury

SUNBURY – There are two candidates on the Republican ticket next week for the job of treasurer in Sunbury. Beth Kreamer is retiring after 12-years on the job. She wants to spend more time with her children, but has enjoyed her time in Sunbury, saying, “It was a great experience and I enjoyed getting to know all the people I have over the last several years.” Kreamer does support one of the candidates in the upcoming election. She is endorsing Kevin Troup, who she says has the experience needed for the job.

Sunbury Councilman Kevin Troup has been a member of the Sunbury City Council for 14-years. He graduated from Shikellamy High School in 1978 and currently works as an independent contractor. He is also director of public works in Sunbury, serving in that role for the past 8 years. He has also served as director of finances in Sunbury for 2 years and director of public safety for 2 years. Troup says he is running for treasurer because he loves being a part of Sunbury and being active in the community. He is currently working for his tax collector certification, which should be in place by November’s election.

Troup’s challenger in the election is Stanley Geiswhite. Geiswhite works for Wood Mode and graduated from Shikellamy High School and the Sun Area Technical School in 1980. He is also a 1982 graduate of Williamsport Area Community College. Geiswhite is also a member of Americus Hose Company in Sunbury. He is running against Troup on the Republican ticket. (Ali Stevens)
