Upcoming baseball clinic for kids in the region

SUNBURY – If you know a child who loves playing baseball, there is an upcoming winter baseball clinic for both boys and girls. The clinic for kids ages 5 to 12 is being held at the Shikellamy Field House on February 23rd from 1 to 4 p.m. Coach Bobby Felmy, head baseball coach for Shikellamy High School, will be hosting the clinic.

He talked with us about his love for baseball along with the challenge. Felmy said, “There’s so many little things that can go wrong and with it being a game of failure, we need to accept that. The mental aspect of the game is my favorite part. Just letting kids know that it’s about believing and accepting the adversity. Visualizing your at-bats. Just knowing where the ball goes. Effort, commitment, character. These are all things we will go over at this clinic.”

Felmy says there will be plenty of tools on learning to be a great hitter, along with other skills such as pitching and catching. Coach Felmy played in two College World Series with the University of Georgia and was drafted by the San Francisco Giants and played five years of professional baseball. You can register to be a part of his clinic by calling 847-0894 or you can register the day of the clinic at 12:30 p.m. (Ali Stevens)
