Victim stabbed multiple times in Sunbury

SUNBURY — Sunbury Police continue their investigation of a homicide in the city.  42-year-old Troy LaFerrara was stabbed several times Monday and his body was found Tuesday morning outside in the 200 block of Catawissa Avenue.  Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley says an autopsy revealed that LaFerrara died of “Multiple Sharp Force Trauma.”

Wednesday, police say a black Chevy pick-up truck involved in the Monday homicide was located in the Susquehanna Valley Mall parking lot.

LaFerrara was a Port Trevorton resident, but also owned a home in Sunbury, not far from where his body was found.  He was a member of the Union-Chapman Township Regional Authority.

Sunbury Police have been tight-lipped about the homicide, but say they are actively investigating.  Chief Stephen Mazzeo says the public is not in danger. (Sara Bartlett)
