VIDEO HERE: Liquidation sale at popular local business

Preparing for a huge sale:

SHAMOKIN DAM – A huge liquidation sale will take place next month at Tedd’s on the Hill in Shamokin Dam.  The popular banquet facility closed at the end of 2012.

Owner of the location, along with Tedd’s Landing and Skeeters BBQ John Skotedis passed away in December and his wife Denise Skotedis says they had been discussing closing Tedd’s on the Hill.  “We used to do a lot of corporate functions and weddings, but with the downturn in the economy that has changed.  Over the past few years we have seen a decline in the business.”

There will be hundreds of items will be up for sale, including all of the banquet and catering inventory, kitchenware, appliances, antiques and much more.  “The banquet facility items may be appealing to other local restaurants, churches, fire companies and more.”

As for the building, Skotedis says the family will keep it, along with the property and what turns up there next is still up in the air.  “It is a little sad to close this facility; it has been a huge part of the community.  I know a lot of people are sad we are closing it, but I think they understand.”

The sale will be Friday and Saturday, August 9 and 10 from 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m. each day at Tedd’s on the Hill.  (Sara Bartlett)
