VIDEO HERE: Susquehanna class of 2017 diverse
SELINSGROVE — The class of 2017 is on the campus of Susquehanna University. According to Director of Admissions Chris Markle, the school year is off to a great start.
“We just had our first year students and transfers come in yesterday for our 156th academic year. We welcomed 590 first year students and 31 transfers yesterday… So, we had a big class come in. Academically one of our strongest classes ever. Also the most diverse class in Susquehanna history.”
Markle said the incoming freshman have chosen a wide variety of majors within the university’s curriculum. He said the newest crusaders have come from all over.
“We get about 44% of our students from Pennsylvania. We have 26 states represented in the first year class, and also 10 countries. Most of the students come from the northeast and Mid-Atlantic states, but we’re seeing students from all over the world finding us… We are excited that geographically we are much more diverse this year.”
The 2013 fall semester kicks off Monday. The new students are continuing their welcome week activities this weekend with orientations and integration activities. You can see more about Susquehanna University’s 156th school year with a video that will be posted online shortly. (Codi Jade)
