VIDEO HERE: Work continues on Isle of Que boat launch

UNDATED – Boaters will be happy to hear that construction on the Isle of Que boat launch is almost complete.  Dave Maneval of G&R Charles Excavating in Port Trevorton is the project manager.  “We are installing rebar to reinforce the concrete which will be poured this week.”

The Isle of Que has been without a boat launch for three years, since the previous launch was shut down.  “There was a structure here which we took out,” says Maneval.  “The design was wrong and the Fish and Boat Commission would not accept it.”

Now, the new boat launch will be in full compliance.  “There are certain elevation and cross slopes the commission wants to make egress in and out of the river safe for the boaters.”

The $63,000 project on South Front Street began about two months ago and is expected to be complete in the next three to four weeks, depending on the weather.  Once complete, Selinsgrove Borough Manager Paul Williams says the Isle of Que boat launch will be open year round. (Sara Bartlett)
