Volunteers needed to advocate for children
LEWISBURG – Volunteers are needed to serve as court-appointed advocates on behalf of abused and neglected children in Northumberland, Snyder, Union and Lycoming Counties. Susquehanna Valley Court Appointed Special Advocates, known as CASA, say men and women ages 21 and older are needed and do not need prior experience.
Volunteers will receive detailed instructions on courtroom procedures and effective advocacy techniques for children. Responsibilities include fact-finding for the case and maintaining contact with the assigned child and other parties in the case. CASA volunteers are not social workers or caseworkers and are also not attorneys. For more information on becoming a volunteer, you can contact Judith Jones, Director of Susquehanna Valley CASA at 570-988-2200 by March 21st. (Ali Stevens)
