VIDEO HERE: Danville home heavily damaged by fire

DANVILLE — Fire heavily damaged a home in Danville this (Thursday) afternoon.  The blaze broke out at 109 Spruce Street around 12:20p.m.  There were no injuries reported.  Living in the home were Christine Fishburn and Henry Baez.

Danville Fire Chief Chris Dickinson says heavy fire was seen coming from the structure when first responders arrived.  “We believe the fire originated in the rear of the structure.  It heavily damaged the rear and there was heavy smoke and heat damage in the rest of the structure.”

Fire crews had the blaze under control in about 30 minutes, but remained on the scene longer.  “They are doing what we call overhaul, says Dickinson.  They are looking for hot spots and making sure there is no additional fire in the wall.”

A neighboring home had minor smoke damage from the fire.  Crews from Columbia County assisted Montour County crews at the scene. (Sara Bartlett)
