White Deer Elementary locked down today

MILTON – White Deer Elementary School was locked down today after a report of an external threat.  Superintendent Cathy Groller tells us Milton police and state police immediately responded by conducting a search of the school building and the surrounding area.

According to state police, the threat was a male on a bicycle.  The male was wearing dark clothing and possibly holding a handgun as he rode past the school.  Children were playing on the playground as they heard a “pop” sound.  All of the children were escorted back into the school without incident.

The threat took place around 10 a.m. and at 11 a.m., the lockdown was lifted, but the school will be watched by state police the rest of the school day.  All parents received an email or text alert about what was happening.  It is not known what kind of threat was made.  (Ali Stevens)
