Camp Mount Luther, located in rural Mifflinburg, is holding a Turkey Benefit Dinner on Sunday, January 25, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Center at the camp. This event will celebrate Benjamin Franklin’s Birthday. Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird of our country. Camp Mount Luther thought it would be fitting to have a turkey dinner with all the trimmings to honor his January birthday! Finnish pianist Paavali Jumppanen will perform in concert Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Rooke Recital Hall of the Weis Music Building at Bucknell University. The program includes “Piano Pieces” by Sibelius, “Preludes” by Debussy and “Carnaval, Op. 9″ by Schumann. A highlight of the concert is the U.S. premieres of two works by Finnish composers Perttu Haapanen and Jaakko Kuusisto. The concert is free and open to the public.

Sculptor Sarah Tortora will showcase her work in Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Haas Gallery for the start of a new season of art. Her exhibit, “Yearning on the Diagonal,” will be on display from Friday, Dec. 19, to Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015. A reception for the exhibit will be held on Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a lecture at 1:15 p.m. Tortora is an adjunct professor at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Conn., where she teaches introductory and intermediate sculpture classes.
