Mom pleads no contest to baby beating


LEWISBURG – A Mifflinburg mother accused of severely beating her baby has entered a plea of no contest to felony child endangerment.  As part of the plea agreement, charges of attempted homicide and aggravated assault were dropped against 20-year-old Jasmine Bearden.   The Daily Item reports Bearden was immediately sentenced to six to 13 months in prison, but was given credit for time served in Union County Prison.  Bearden was sentenced last week to four to 18-months in prison after admitting to attempting to sell marijuana at Geisinger Medical Center while her baby was hospitalized in October of 2013.   Police say Bearden beat her six-week-old son, causing serious injuries.  A Geisinger physician testified at…

Mifflinburger pleads guilty to drug sales


MIFFLINBURG — A Mifflinburg woman, charged with severely beating her baby, has pleaded guilty to trying to sell drugs to friends in the hospital where her son was being treated. The Daily Item reports 20-year-old Jasmine Bearden was in court Monday and admitted to trying to sell marijuana at Geisinger Medical Center in October of 2013. Her 6-week-old son was hospitalized in the pediatric intensive care unit at the time, after Bearden allegedly beat the baby, causing severe injuries. Bearden is locked up in the Clinton County Prison and will be sentenced in the coming weeks for the drug charges. Woman charged with baby beating now faces drug charges


DANVILLE – A woman facing attempted homicide charges for severely beating her 6-week-old baby is now facing drug charges too. 20-year-old Jasmine Bearden is accused of having marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a backpack at Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, where her baby was being treated following the beating.   The baby boy was brought to the hospital on October 11th and police discovered the baby had broken ribs, a fractured skull, numerous bruises and a damaged liver. Woman in court for infant beating


MIFFLINBURG – All charges against a Mifflinburg woman charged with severely beating her six-week old baby were held for court following a preliminary hearing on Tuesday. 20-year-old Jasmine Bearden is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.   She was charged in January for the beating that allegedly happened on October 9th. Woman accused of beating baby due in court


LEWISBURG – A Mifflinburg woman accused of severely beating her 6-month-old son is due in court next week for a preliminary hearing. 20-year-old Jasmine Bearden remains in the Union County Prison without bail. She has a court hearing scheduled for Tuesday before District Judge Leo Armbruster of Lewisburg.   Police say Bearden beat her child, causing a fractured skull, broken ribs and other serious injuries. She has been charged with criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child. She was arrested last Friday for the incident that took place October 8th and 9th.
