Sunbury man to state prison for stabbing

  SUNBURY — A Sunbury man who stabbed another Sunbury man in July, has been sentenced to up to 7 years in state prison. 23-year-old Joseph Rice was sentenced to 33-months to 7 years by Northumberland County Judge William Wiest. Rice was charged with stabbing Darryl Troup at Troup’s home on Susquehanna Avenue in Sunbury. He was stabbed in both knees and was treated at Sunbury Community Hospital. Man charged for a stabbing will go to trial

SUNBURY – A Sunbury man charged with stabbing a man in the city in July will face a trial in Northumberland County. 23-year-old Joseph Rice entered a plea of not guilty during a preliminary hearing before District Judge Ben Apfelbaum in Sunbury on Thursday.   He faces four felony counts, including aggravated assault. All charges against Rice were sent to court. Police say Rice stabbed Darryl Troup after storming into a home on July 7th. Troup was treated at Sunbury Community Hospital for stab wounds to his knees.
