Downtown Selinsgrove welcomes SU students
SELINSGROVE – Susquehanna University freshman were given a warm welcome by Selinsgrove Wednesday.
Welcome to the Grove was designed to give incoming students a chance to get to know businesses and services downtown says Main Street Manager Mary Bannon. “We want to welcome students and parents to Selinsgrove and nearly all of the businesses are participating by having a table set up with information. It’s a great event with a really hometown feel to it.”
Selinsgrove Mayor Sean Christine also welcomed the students. He stressed one of the town’s most important traits: volunteerism. “This is a place where you can make your hometown your own,” Christine told the crowd. “I hope as new residents of the borough, you make Selinsgrove everything you can for yourself and for other people.”
Students are moving onto campus this week and classes begin Monday. (Sara Bartlett)
